The dollar rose in price on Tuesday during the Asian trading session, strengthening against the yen, despite the rise in producer prices in Japan on a monthly basis, and regional markets are waiting for China to celebrate the Chinese New Year at the end of the week.
USD / JPY was trading at 108.21, gaining 0.41%, and AUD / USD rose 0.03% to hit 0.7863.EUR / USD gained 0.20% to hit 1.2317 and GBP / USD strengthened by 0.12% to 1.3855.
The US dollar index, which shows the strength of the dollar relative to the weighted basket of six leading currencies, rose 0.03% to 93.45.
In Japan, producer prices rose 0.3% on a monthly basis, although it was expected that they would increase by 0.2%, and by 2.7% year on year, as expected.
Yesterday, the dollar was trading almost unchanged relative to the basket of other major currencies, as investors analyzed the budget and infrastructure plan published by the White House.
